‘Adeu, O desie of delyte’ was sung by myself and Amanda Nizic, with Amanda providing a spontaneous harmony which closely follows Elliott’s transcription of the melody line. I experimented with earlier versions using voice and flute but the melody was so enjoyable to sing that two voices felt more apt. Although the words lament an affectionate farewell to said ‘daisy of delight’, the tune is so merry that we couldn’t help but sing it with a bit of a smile and neglect the somewhat dewy sentimentality of the lyric.
